Alan Hirsch – The Forgotten Ways

These are some seriously challenging and compelling thoughts on church life and cultural engagement.  You may disagree with some of what he says, but you have to at least grapple with the concepts.  This is all worth watching.

What did you think?

Let’s discuss in the comments.

Rocking Spring Folly 09

We got a last minute opportunity to play at the annual outdoor festival in Kernersville called “Spring Folly”.  I took a quick video from my camera.  I was trying to keep track of my 3 kids at the same time (Heather was singing) so the video is cut short and the quality isn’t as good as what you’d get with a video camera.

Next year we’ll get a proper video camera out there, but this will give you a taste.

I’m just so proud of our band that I wanted to share the love.  Thanks to Jessica Cotten and the band for pulling it together on such short notice and managing to be yourselves up there.

Rock on. Love you guys.

Marketplace Ministry – Chuck Ripka’s Story

If you haven’t heard of Marketplace Ministry, the idea isn’t new. God wants to merge our “church” life with our “work” life. The division we create between the two isn’t a division that God created. There is a revival happening around the world (including the USA) inside the workplace. Chuck Ripka is one of many who are experiencing healings, miracles, and boat loads of salvations right there in the daily grind.

I dug out this CD I have of him telling his story about what God has done in his little bank. He was speaking at Manna Church in Sanford, NC (Now Brickcity Community Church). I’m not sure exactly when this was.

I strongly suggest you give it a concentrated listen. It will both challenge you and inspire you.
