We have good doctrine. We have modern, God centered worship. We have a website and a twitter account. We love Jesus and He loves us.
But where are the works of God that I see in this film? I believe in miracles, but I do not see them like this.
Why is this not happening here?
[box]Let’s ask the hard questions. Saying that God simply doesn’t do these things anymore is a cop out, is it not? Clearly it’s happening. The hard question is why isn’t it happening in most of our churches. Is this really “normal” Christianity?[/box]

Where are the miracles? They are on the way.
I agree with the question, Ben, but I don’t know the answer. I know parts of the answer, things like the fact that we have too many other places to turn for our “miracles” so that we tend to put our faith in medicine or medical research instead of God, for instance. (Don’t get me wrong; I’m not anti-medicine!) I know that our culture encourages self-reliance and attaches shame to the idea of dependence upon anything, even God, and that discourages faith, one of the things Jesus said produces miracles. I know lots of other partial answers that I tell myself when I pray and do not see a miracle, most of them centered upon what I might have done wrong or might have failed to do right. But I think the answer is in God and not in me. “Lord I believe, help my unbelief!”
I have experienced real, documented miracles in my life, and I have seen them in the lives of many others. Why don’t I see them like I read about in the Bible? I don’t know. All i know is to keep asking the question, and to keep calling the question with God by praying for miracles. And keep believing.
Thanks, Ben, for asking it right out loud in public. You’re not the only one asking.
