Owen’s Birthday
// August 15th, 2008 // Family Life
Well, today my little boy is officially two years old. We are on vacation at the beach, so we celebrated it with just our family. He loves the ocean, so we went down to the ocean and played the morning away. His favorite meal at the moment is pizza, so we ordered pizza for him and ate together on the living room floor (one of his other favorite things to do). I made cupcakes and we sang to him. He thought that the candle was part of the cake and insisted on licking it and even took a bite of it (YUCK).
Owen has been gearing up for two for some time now, but it is official today. Two years ago today I gave birth to a 8 pound 10 ounce little boy after a short time laboring. He has been such a joy in his short time on earth. He is mixture of someone extremely strong-willed, but at the same time very gentle. He has such a sweet personality and loves giving hugs. The other part of him though is exactly what his name means, warrior. There is this aspect of him that is not at all gentle. It has amazed me how different he is from the girls even at such an early age. There are times that he exasperates me one minute and in the next melts my heart. I am so grateful that God gave us such a precious gift in Owen.
I know that God brought him to us for a special time. We had a word before I had any babies that we would have a baby boy who would be like Gabriel proclaiming the word of the Lord. Our prayer is that Owen’s heart will be soft to Him and that he will proclaim the Word of God wherever he goes even from an early age.
Some new prases as of this week: “Ah man!” (about everything), “That’s nasty” (can you tell I say that to him a lot?), “I don’t want ___” (insert anything you are trying to get him to do). I am sure he will be coming up with many new ones. He is such a joy and it is so much fun to see him discover new words and phrases.
We love you, Owen and look forward to years we have to spend with you.

I LOVE Owen! Little boys are the coolest. I would not be disappointed if God blessed me with a girl one day, but secretly I am hoping for boys. Happy birthday, Owster! If you find Nemo, let me know!
Happy Birthday Owen!
