The Mind of a Two Year Old
// February 27th, 2008 // Family Life
Eliana is in the middle of the wonderful age of two. With all of the typical two year old behavior also comes the beginning of them really using their imaginations. I love this part. It really makes all the other parts worth it. Eliana has really come alive in the imagination department in the past few months.
The other day as we were leaving the grocery store, it had begun to get dark. She was amazed that we could go in with it being light and come out and it be dark. She immediately started talking about the moon. I began to tune into her ramblings and she told me that we needed to catch the moon. She started jumping up and down with her hands in the air trying to “catch the moon.” She finally got it and told me that she was going to put it in her pocket for later. I was chuckling to myself at the way her mind was working. Then she told me that she threw the moon back. I just about died!
The other day we were driving and she said that there were Pumas (thanks, Diego) after us. She said we had to get rope and catch them. I tried to “get the rope” but in her estimation I wasn’t doing it right. Ben finally figured out exactly how she wanted it and did it right to get the Pumas. She said she needed to put the rope in her pocket. She put it in her pocket and then proceeded to tell us that it wasn’t all the way in there and stuffed it into her pocket more.
Of course there are other stories, but I won’t bore you any longer. I love getting a little peak into her mind. Wouldn’t it be great to just let yourself go and dream that way?

I love it!! I tried to catch the moon the other day but I couldn’t…I guess Eliana and I were going for it at the same time. She’s a fast one. :)
And then there’s the time when your son opens his Bible to tell you a Bible story about Jesus and the cross, only Jesus doesn’t die on the cross, he’s saved by Buzz Lightyear that flies down from the sky.
Pretty amazing how their minds work.
