Mrs. Field’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
// November 2nd, 2007 // Recipes
This is one of my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipes. I don’t use this one as my “normal” recipe because it makes a lot of cookies and it is a little more involved. HOWEVER, they taste amazing! It is definitely the best cookie recipe I have for consistency and taste. I discovered this week that you can freeze the cookie dough to make at a later time. This is great especially with this recipe because it makes a good amount of dough (of course you could also split the recipe but that’s just too simple :) . To freeze the cookie dough, I lumped them out on a cookie sheet as I would to cook them, then put them in the freezer. Once they were in there for about 15 minutes, I took them off the sheet and put them in a freezer bag. You can write on the freezer bag with a permanent marker the date you made them and the temp and time to cook them at. Ok…now for the recipe:
Mrs. Field’s Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 2 bags of semi-sweet chocolate chips*
- 1/2 bag of milk chocolate chips *
- 4 sticks of butter
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 2 cups white sugar
- 5 cups oatmeal
- 4 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1tsp salt
- 2 tsp vanilla
-Preheat oven to 375. Mix butter, sugars, vanilla and eggs one at a time with a mixer. In a blender, blend the oats until they are a powdery consistency. Add baking soda, powder and salt into the blender. Mix the flour and the oatmeal mixture. Pour flour mix into the main batter a little bit at a time, mixing as you go. Stir choc. chips into the batter. Bake for 6-12 minutes.
*I sometimes change the amounts and types of choc chips based on what I have. This past time I made them I used one full bag of each kind of cc and they were very good.
So, there you have it. I hope you enjoy. They really are delicious!

I love these cookies. I have the same recipe and love to make them for the holidays.
Yeah. I just dusted it off this week and was impressed all over again :)
These sound WONDERFUL – we’re having a houseful for Thanksgiving. I’ll give them a try!!
For those of you who want to freeze the dough: Bake the cookies frozen. I think it actually messes them up to let the dough thaw before baking. Freezing them is awesome b/c it allows you to limit the amount you eat and do some pre-holiday baking… This recipe is awesome, thanks Heather!!
Ah yes. Thanks, Ber. I meant to put that in there. And thanks for the advice on freezing them the other day. It has worked wonderfully and I don’t notice a difference in the taste/texture at all.
Chocolate chip cookies are my husband’s favorite! I’m going to try to make these for him. :)
Thanks so much for participating in my Favorite Ingredients Friday- Cookie Edition recipe exchange. I do appreciate it.
