Weekend Thoughts
// October 26th, 2007 // Random Thoughts, Video
It was an interesting week here at Live.awake. I wrote a post on Saturday about Joel Osteen and it turned into the hottest post I’ve ever done (aside from the How to Sell a House in Over 6 Months, but I don’t count that because it was from a once-in-a-lifetime link from a major real estate site). The funny thing is that the post was something of an afterthought on my part. From now on I am going to find a way to work the name Joel Osteen into every one of my posts… ;-)
Here a few bullet points to heave you head first into the weekend.
- I found these stunning photographs from the plains of Africa. The photo at the start of this post is from the collection. Check these out. Though there are no photos of Joel Osteen, you won’t be sorry.
- If you were up at 1am on Tuesday I assume you were reading this blog. In that case, you may have noticed that it was offline for an hour or so. I finally got around to upgrading my WordPress install to version 2.3. It’s AMAZING how easy it is to install/upgrade WordPress. It’s one of the many things that makes it so much better than the rest. Kind of like Joel Osteen’s book sales numbers.
- When someone does a search engine search for something that leads them to my site, I can see what they searched for in my stats. Do you know what the most common searches are that lead people here? You won’t guess it. “S.M. Lockridge“, “Chuck Ripka“, “Being a Good Employee“, and “What is glue made of”. By far the two most popular posts on this blog (ie still get a lot of hits every day) are my Chuck Ripka post and the SM Lockridge one. Both of those are super short quickie posts I did. Now I’m getting hits for “Joel Osteen”. Go figure.
- I got Gravatars working this week. You may have noticed little images showing up with me and Heather’s comments. That’s not just for us. Anyone can make use of that feature. Do you have an account yet? It’s free, crazy easy to set up, and works on any site where Gravatars are enabled (which is a LOT). Once you set up your account, any time you comment on a Gravatar enabled site your avatar will appear with the comment. If you need an avatar and don’t want to use an image of yourself, just ask Google. You’ll find something. I bet you could even find an avatar that looks like Joel Osteen.
- Ben Goodman hit a home run when he preached at KCC Sunday. I had preached on Transformational Community the week before using Acts 2:41-47 as the primary text. I didn’t tell Goodman a thing about that. He shows up Sunday and preaches using the same scripture and makes the same points about community being the next step for us. I don’t believe in coincidence, do you? Even Joel Osteen would agree with me on that.
- Here’s a video that made me laugh out loud. It also serves as a reminder to put your car in park when getting gas. Apparently, this guy didn’t read Joel Osteen’s “Your Best Life Now”.

[tags]Joel Osteen, video, chuck ripka, s.M. Lockridge, that’s my king, gravatars, links[/tags]

That is too funny. The Joel Osteen implements, I mean. And I think you got those comments because you actually stated a personal opinion on the matter rather than just relaying the information.
1st person to actually comment here with a Joel Osteen avatar is a rotten egg.
that vid really cracks me up!
I added a gravatar, and it’s a good one, but I’m not as polished as JOEL OSTEEN.
