Photo Processing

// October 30th, 2007 // General

I was confused and posted the backwards Works For Me Wednesday on the wrong Wednesday. I got some good responses, but was curious if anyone else has suggestions…So, if you have read this already I apologize, but any suggestions???

I have been wondering where to get my digital photos processed. I know that there are a lot of on-line stores out there and that most film processing places are now offering digital development as well. I want to find one that is not too expensive but has quality prints. I used Snapfish once or twice and was not impressed at all. My favorite place to go is Ritz or Wolfe Camera (same company) but they are definitely on the pricey side. I have liked Walgreens, but haven’t used them for any digital printing. I actually have not printed many digital prints at all because I want to find the right place first so that I don’t waste time and money using

someone that isn’t good. I would love to get some suggestions of a place to get my digital prints developed for an affordable price but not sacrificing quality. Any suggestions?

Rocks in My Dryer is doing Works for Me Wednesday backwards this week…Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You were almost there… Walgreens has great in store and on line processing. I am a professional photographer, and print all my client proofs at Walgreens. Even my professional printer says they’re pretty good, for one hour.

    Shutterfly is the best! It’s the only one I’ll use!

  3. So, I just realized that I posted the backwards day a week early. I already have a couple good answers though. Thanks. I will have to link to this again next week to get even more answers :)

    Winkflash is SO much cheaper than most other places, and the quality is fine. Try ordering a small amount first, and compare them. I’ve had trouble with Walgreens and Walmart losing my orders, and Sams Club’s machine breaks down *every* time I try them. Winkflash is easy, good, and cheap!! If you register with them, they send out coupon codes frequently (though I bet these could also be found around the net, at places like CouponCabin, etc.).

    Enjoy!!

  5. Oh, Heather. You know that Mac that KCC just got? It’s got a program called iPhoto that Apple makes and includes for free on all of it’s computers. It will let you organize, edit, print and share your photos. You can also have Apple print and bind books of your photos for crazy cheap using iPhoto. I’m about to order a 20 page 8.5 x 11 glossy full color, hardbound book for $30.00. They use professional printing on everything. It’s also got built-in calendar making stuff.

    The one bad thing about iPhoto is that it’s Mac-only, so even though every Mac out there (in the last 10 years) has it, no Windows boxes have it.

  6. The Mac idea sounds awesome. I will be looking into that :)

    i have tried a bunch of them. i generally don’t like snapfish for printing digitals (they used to be great back when i used print film, though). i usually use shutterfly, which is good, but i recently sent a bunch of black and whites to be printed through photoworks and let me tell you, those were the best. the black and whites were so much crisper than anyone else’s. plus, they can print in 3X5, which no one else can print, and they have the most creative card selection…i still use shutterfly for almost everything because i make photo books mostly instead of printing photos, but for framing, i’m all about photoworks now! (anyone from photoworks out there reading? i’ll take free stuff now….grin)

    I have used shutterfly for a while now and have only had one set of prints that I was unhappy with. But, if you are unhappy with them, you can send them back and they will reprint them for you. I actually have had better luck with them than anyone else. And, if you do a prepaid plan, you can get the prints for .12 each. Hope this helps.

    I also vote for Shutterfly. I don’t get prints very often, so I wait until they send me a special offer for 20 free prints or something similar, then just pay a couple dollars shipping. Sweet!

    I haven’t printed many, but Sam’s Club did a good job for me, plus I can send it to the Sam’s Club by my parents. My friends and family use Walgreen’s and even the larger sizes that they framed look great!

    Shutterfly it is, and I’m a picky girl when it comes to my pictures! Though I will be checking out photoworks after reading the above comment!

    These are great to know. I will def. be trying out Shutterfly since there have been so many good comments on them. Thanks for all the input so far!!
