It is such an amazing thing when you get a glimpse of what God has entrusted you with. When I became a mom I knew that God had given us these lives to nourish and develop into healthy, complete men and women of God. At times though I think I get so lost in the shuffle of day-to-day diaper changes, feedings and play time that I can lose sight of the ultimate goal from time to time. I know that it is always in the back of my mind, but when the day is hard or I am tired, I can forget that this mommy thing is bigger then just that….God is using me to mold these children into the people that they will some day become. It brings such a renewed joy when I keep this in mind and understand what an amazing calling this is.

As I was driving down the road the other day with my one year old and two year old, we had Delirious playing. I was singing like no one was listening when I looked into the rear view mirror. I see my two year old singing at the top of her lungs “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus Friend Forever” in her broken English. She was lifting her hands and singing her little heart out at the top of her lungs. It hit me again (I am constantly reminded) that our children mimic what we do in life. God instills in them their own giftings and desires, but they look at us to figure out how to use them.

Not only was I struck by the responsibility of my position as her mom, but I was also struck by her innocence and abandon as she sang that song. I saw in her what Jesus meant when he said “From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise”. She may not have gotten the full meaning but she knows about Jesus and she knew she was singing about Him. My heart swelled with pride and I couldn’t help but smile as tears streamed down my face. What an amazing gift God has entrusted in our hands!
