Midweek Thoughts
// September 5th, 2007 // Random Thoughts
We’ve had an eventful week. Heather went up to Boone, NC to help redecorate her parents’ house with the other siblings. I stayed home with the two babies doing the Mr. Mom thing. Don’t worry. The kids are fine, just a little dirty and tired of eating microwaved chicken tenders.
- I was able to recover the important posts from the crash. I didn’t bother pulling out the Friday video posts and things like that. I may do that later if I get around to it. I get very little hits in the archive for those posts so there’s not much point in digging them up.
- My wife, Heather, made her inaugural post yesterday in our new blog format. I think this is going to be fun.
- Have you heard of the DoodleBops? They are SCARY. My kids aren’t into them at all, and it’s going to stay that way. It’s just too weird and I can’t handle how feminine the two guys are. I’m sorry, but I don’t want my son or my daughters imitating that. I found this hilarious review on epinions the other day. Reviews aren’t usually funny, but this guy made me chuckle.
Bob the Bus Driver – who comes in the midst of his midlife crisis and is one song away from a restraining order. He is one creepy bus driver. I guess they figure half the kids in the audience can relate to him, because they have a daddy at home who is equally as mortifying – you know the daddy tries too hard to be cool – he tries to recapture is youth by wearing outdated clothes, combing his hair just so to cover his thinning/balding hair, uttering out of character phrases – like “Fo Sho” and striking rapper poses to make him look cool.
- Claire Alston has written a great post on her blog about an experience she had discussing theology with a drunk friend. It strikes me that many Christians her age (nevermind adults) would have been too afraid or “principled” to even be in the same room with a drunk guy who is obviously confused. Though, I suspect Jesus wanted her right there doing what she was doing. Good job, Claire.
- A long-time friend of the family and founding member of the church I grew up in died last week. At the funeral (thank God I had the wherewithal to sit on the back pew) Kaitlyn was an angel. Until the benediction. During the final prayer, she pulls on my arm and in a VERY loud whisper says,
“Hurry up, Daddy! I want to see the dead body!”
Sigh. Things were going so well.

Thanks! It was a really thought-provoking encounter, actually… and I’ve had a lot of those this semester already (I’d like to add that most of my thought-provoking encounters have been with sober people.)
