Created in His Image
// September 25th, 2007 // Christian Living
I went to a ladies retreat this weekend in the beautiful mountains of NC. It was nice to get some much needed rest and teaching for a few days. My mother-in-law, Gloria Cotten, was the main speaker at the conference. She did a wonderful job. We also had several workshops that we could attend on Saturday. A lot of testimonies and healing came from the conference.
For me, I didn’t walk away with an extreme experience, but I left challenged to live like I am created in God’s image. I left with the encouragement to live a Godly life and the reminder that all I have to do is ask God to meet me in areas of my life that I need help in. I left being reminded that our lives are a reflection of God’s glory. Even when we go through the tough things in life, we should shine through the glory of God….that when people look at our lives they will want what we have. That means that we need to be Godly in our attitudes towards our children, our husbands and our friends. It means we need to work as unto the Lord. It means that we need to live daily taking up the cross and obeying God.
It is also important to remember not to always be insulting and hurting the bodies that God has given us. We need to accept our limitations. So many times women ask God why he made our bodies the way he did, or why we have to be so different from everyone else. We ask God…why do I have to have poor eye sight or a bad knee or a deformity? Why do I have to be ill when others live healthy lives? Why me?
God has given us the limitations in life for a reason. There may be times that He will use our limitations to reach those that others can’t. We need to be responsible for our lives in Christ. We have to stop blaming our lack on situations and other people. We have to take responsibility and begin living the lives that we are called to live. Stop waiting for the perfect man, or the perfect time or the right amount of money. Step out and live the life you are called to live. Live a life that brings glory to your Creator. Live a life that makes people want what you have. Bring glory to God in the smallest things you do and in the biggest things. After all, we are created in His image.

Great post Heather. I’m totally with you on not using your limitations as an excuse. One word that came out of the retreat was “If we step out in faith, not seeing the open doors, Jesus will come and obliterate the walls and barriers.” Sometimes it requires action on our part, not because God needs it, but because we need it. Live expecting healing and deliverance. Confess the word. But like you said, live the life you were called to live.
Hey Heather,
Wasn’t the retreat awesome? I am making all my friends and sisters and my mom go with me next year! I came back and talked to some of my (unsaved) friends about the things Gloria talked about and told them I am going to change things about myself, One thing I talk about people a lot, not bad things but I do kind of judge them but we dont know their story we dont know why they act the way they do and we dont know why they are the way they are and my friends really looked up to me about that and said they are going to do the same and I have just been sharing with them the things that was said at the retreat and they are a step closer to the church doors. I or I mean God really has their minds rolling right now! :) Well I can’t wait for next year’s retreat!
